The best way to ensure PLFIlms Vinyl wrap lives out its lifetime is to avoid long term UV exposure, contaminants, and abrasive chemicals. We strongly reccomend applying a Film Specific Ceramic coating prior to the vinyl wrap being exposed to direct sunlight. The PPF Style top coat in PLFilms vinyl allows users to polish out any small swirl marks and marring from the installation process. Having this style of top coat also ensures the film is ceramic coating friendly. Along with the UV protective properties of a Ceramic Coating, you will create a hydrophobic layer ontop of your Vinyl. This allows water to bead off the surface and not stick to the film creating waterspots.
Please ensure the Vehicle is washed atleast once every two weeks to ensure dirt is unable to saturate edges, remove corrosive elements such as bird droppings, and prevent stains due to rain water resting on the vinyl surface for an extended period of time.
When it comes to maintaing the vinyl wrap you’ll want to be mindful of what type of chemicals come in contact with the wrap. Avoid going through a drive through car wash not only because it can scratch or rip the wrap but the chemicals used in the soap/wax mixture can deteriorate the vinyl.
Never use carnauba oil/wax, solvents, tire shine, or household cleaning products on vinyl. Soap found in car wash bays usually has carnauba wax in it and should be avoided.
For a safe and stress free wash, hand wash the vehicle out of direct sunlight with a microfibre mitt using PH Neutral soaps. This will eliminate the chance of damaging the finish of the Vinyl and ensures a clean and stress free wash.
During the curing process (2 weeks after installation) avoid using pressure washers close to edges. If the vinyl has not fully cured you run the risk of shooting water underneath the panel or tearing the film. For a safe measure stand a meter back when hosing down the vehicle working from the top to the bottom to remove the soap from the surface.
Once a month apply a quick detailer to the exterior of the vehicle after its routine wash. DO NOT APPLY IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT as the quick detailer can harden instantly on the film leaving streaks.
